14 May 2019, 7pm, Krakow Variete Theatre/ 500th anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci's death
The goal of this performance is to bring an attention to the only da Vinci’s masterpiece that is kept in Poland, precisely in the National Museum. Even though Lady with an Ermine is one of the most popular paintings in the world, none but few know the history of its heroine – Cecilia Gallerani.
Staged and choreographed by Romana Agnel, the play will take an audience to the Sforza court in Milan during glorious times of Italian Cinquecento. It is based on the renaissance tradition of ballet performances and contains reconstructed pieces of Il Paradiso – a show featuring costumes and scenery designed by Leonardo.
The performance is full of renaissance music, primarily dances, present in the Sforza court. Furthermore, a participation of Sławomir Zubrzycki is a novelty of this revival. He will demonstrate a world class phenomenon, which is viola organista – an instrument reconstructed from a sketch made by da Vinci. Zubrzycki will play pieces from the epoch, including one written by Leonardo himself.
