Alla Polacca

Alla Polacca is a performance which presents different forms of Polish dances, both those of the nobility and of the folk, spanning the 17th to 19th centuries. Alluding to the Old Polish traditions, the performance presents some of the most well-known and popular Polish dances of the repertoire of the time, such as the ‘Uroczysty’ (Solemn Dance), ‘Wesoły’ (Merry Dance) or the lively ‘Wyrwany’ (Snatching Dance). The original element of the performance consists of entertainments around traditional Polish legendary characters, such as the devil and sorcerer Pan Twardowski, who jumps on a rooster.
