CHOPIN'S DANCE WORLD

With dance and movement the artists animate a variety of dance forms composed by Frédéric Chopin. Based on period treatises, they recreate the style, steps and figures, breathing into them emotions, character, and a symbolism of gesture and movement, all the while conjuring up specific situations and relations between the characters. The plot of the performance unfolds in the scenery of a choice of places. The audience travels into Polish manorhouses, as well as European salons which F. Chopin frequented, where he gave concerts and danced. Chopin’s Dance World reveals a special facet of the great musician, an eminent expert and lover of dance, a careful observer of human types and characters, as well as a humourous satirist. The performance has been supported by financial resources of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage and the Municipality of Krakow. Chopin’s Dance World was also presented on European stages in the year 2010 as part of the ‘Chopin in Europe’s Salons’ cycle.
