POLAND-INDIA: CONVERSATIONS
The performance is the result of a meeting between artists originating from two different cultures who are looking for a platform for dialogue. Despite the evident formal differences in dance, music and costumes, the artists carry out a conversation, and at times even speak one and the same language.
The space for the meeting turns out to be two key elements of movement expression, irrevocably linked with the cultures of both Poland and India, namely the gestures of the hands, and the sentiments. Key to the culture of the Baroque in the Polish noble tradition, the rhetorics of gesture is simultaneously the basis for all expression in Indian dances.
In showing both of the court dance worlds to the audience, the artists present a dialogue between Krakow and New Delhi that is intelligible and moving.
